Keri Herman From Olympic Athlete to Ski Designer

At RMU we commissioned Keri Herman, US Olympic athlete and free skier, to build and design us one of the most fun skis on the market.  We ended up with 2 skis a front side ripper in the Valhalla 97 and a big mountain slayer in the Valhalla 107, both available for pre-sale with her LTD Graphic. Heres her journey to being a ski designer!

I grew up in Minnesota playing ice hockey and started really getting into skiing when I moved to Colorado to attend The University of Denver. I graduated with a Finance/Marketing degree in 2005 and a new obsession with skiing. In 2007 I won the Aspen Open (the only major competition for women at the time) and officially put my degree on hold and became a professional skier.

“In 2007 I won the Aspen Open (the only major competition for women at the time) and officially put my degree on hold and became a professional skier.“

From there I was one of the first women to forge the way competing in Slopestyle at the Sochi Olympics, in the X Games winning 5 silver medals, winning the Dew Tour, becoming the very first World Champion awarded the Crystal Globe in Slopestyle, and winning many Grand Prix and World Cup contests around the world.

“...I sustained a very serious leg injury and needed a partial femur transplant. This ended my Slopestyle career and opened up doors for ski and outerwear development that I am so excited to pursue.”

In 2017 I sustained a very serious leg injury and needed a partial femur transplant. This ended my Slopestyle career and opened up doors for ski and outerwear development that I am so excited to pursue. I am so grateful and lucky to get involved with such an amazing company as RMU! Together we have created, no joke, the most fun ski I have ever skied on!

 Designing skis with Chris

“ You guys, WE DID IT! This ski is the most best ever!!! I’m not even kidding. The 97 is PERFECT in every condition...”

I wanted to develop a ski for everyone that preforms awesomely in every situation: cruising fresh groomers, bombing the steeps, hitting jumps and rails, buttering rollers, stable while going super fast, and ripping tight trees. You guys, WE DID IT! This ski is the most best ever!!! I’m not even kidding. The 97 is PERFECT in every condition as an all mountain and every day ski. If you’re looking for something a little wider, we have the 107 that destroys powder and also rips the mountain on any day of the year making big graceful turns. The feather graphics are based off a painting I made and outerwear I am designing with Virtika.  I couldn’t be more excited to share this ski with you and I can’t wait to have matching skis and make turns with everyone next season!!
